To start the boating season in style, Jachthaven Biesbosch decided to entertain its berth holders with a grand party and BBQ.

On Saturday 3rd May, the red carpet was laid out at the marina to welcome guests on what was a lovely, if a little chilly spring evening. Around 400 people turned up for the event, which turned out to be a fantastic evening.

Plenty of boating enthusiast's were already at the marina to celebrate the annual traditional Flag day which is held on 4th May.

Havenmaster Marie-Louise Schaafstra and Managing Director of the Yacht Havens group, Dylan Kalis were at the entrance, alongside marina manager Henk de Beer to personally welcome everyone who attended the event. Dylan Kalis, who is based in the UK, had come to the marina to join the party. He was joined by a group of UK delegates, including members of the board.

The whole Jachthaven Biesbosch team were at the party including Joep Scherpenhuijzen, who is the new havenmaster at the marina. The team got to work behind the scenes manning the bar, where they were helped by temporary holiday staff. These faces are the faces that you will see out and about on the pontoons this summer!

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and the highlight was the fantastic BBQ. The BBQ itself was a boat that had found a new life as a BBQ! The BBQ boat had come from the Panorama restaurant, and it was the The Panorama that kept the enormous array of BBQ meats refreshed throughout the evening, accompanied by varous salads, breads, and sauces. The steady flow of accompanying chips had come from nearby 'Vistaria Rijk'. The bar, music and lighting had come from cafe 'De Viersprong Dongen'. The party at the marina was a perfect way of bringing local businesses together, all of which are situated at the marina.

Even the goodie bag that berth holders recieved at the end of the evening was filled with goodies from businesses based at the marina. Hopefully, with all the information and goodies inside the bag, berth holders will discover and learn more about the marina and what it has to offer.

All in all, everyone had a fantastic time at the first berth holders BBQ at Jachthaven Biesbosch. Will this turn into a 'start of the boating season' tradition?
