Lymington Yacht Haven proudly announces it has been awarded The Yacht Harbour Association's (THYA) UK Coastal Marina of the Year Award 2016.

The Award was proudly received by Rupert Wagstaff, Lymington Yacht Haven's Marina Director, at The London Boat Show. The ceremony was hosted by TYHA with sponsors GJW Insurance and British Marine.

The prestigious award is open to Gold Anchor accredited marinas that means only the ‘best of the best’ are nominated. Lymington Yacht Haven currently holds 5 Gold Anchors, the highest accolade for service and operational standards available in the industry, so it is not surprising they have received this outstanding award.

Voted for by end users

The final say goes to the voters. In the case of this award, boat owners and berth holders were invited to vote for their favourite marina in the various categories i.e. UK Coastal Marina, UK Inland Marina, International Marina and Superyacht Marina.

With more than 500 positive comments from voters, it is no wonder that Lymington Yacht Haven is sailing high as the UK Coastal Marina of the Year 2016.

Words of praise

Rupert Wagstaff was understandably proud to receive the award, “We are absolutely thrilled to scoop this award - it's a great way to start 2016. I must praise and thank all the staff at Lymington Yacht Haven for their hard work, professionalism and for setting the very highest of standards.”

“This award is extra special as it is conducted by a public vote. We have been overwhelmed by the support shown with over 500 positive comments received from our nominees which confirms that we are getting something right and that we are achieving consistently high standards with our facilities and outstanding customer service. We’re extremely grateful to our berth holders and visiting boats who voted for us.”

"All my staff are beaming with pride and I am too! Thank you to TYHA and sponsors GJW Insurance for the recognition!”

One of the voters, a berth holder, also felt strongly about Lymington Yacht Haven's worthiness, "Superb facilities and very welcoming and professional marina staff. The staff are consistently willing to go that extra 'nautical' mile (which is longer!) to make all aspects of stay a thorough pleasure."

Sarah Hanna, the Chairman of TYHA commented, "The standard of the entries was high but it was obvious from the comments of Lymington Yacht Haven's nominees that they are doing a superb job and are well-deserving of this award."

What makes Lymington Yacht Haven so special?

This family owned marina is set in a stunning location on the Lymington River off the Solent. A recent £1.2 million shoreside refurbishment ensures that the facilities on offer are top-notch so that berth holders and visitors can enjoy 24 hour facilities including WiFi and fuelling, luxury washrooms and laundry, and quality food and drink at The Haven Bar.

Lymington Yacht Haven also boasts 24 hour security with CCTV cameras and personnel on duty, Dry Stack berthing at its quayside facility as well as immediate access to the western edge of the Solent offering a magnificent coastline to explore.

If sailors want to find their land legs, the marina offers bike and electric car hire to explore the nearby towns and New Forest.

Rupert Wagstaff summed up, “We hope Lymington Yacht Haven is more than just a marina. Our aim is to create a social hub, “the place to be” in 2016, and we will continue to develop a broader offering to meet the needs of young and old sailors, and to create a place that bridges the gap between the generations.”
